About Mad River
Mad River California is within the Six Rivers National Forest and the Shasta Trinity National Forest. This small community, near the western side of Ruth Lake, is a major water reservoir for all of Humboldt Bay. The Mad River flows peacefully and tranquilly straight through the center of the town and makes one feel as if the town was built around the river. The opportunities for water-sports are everywhere in this old Gold-Mining town with tubing and fishing being high on the list. Mad River California is only a few short hours drive from San Francisco so this makes escaping back to the past as easy as jumping on the highway.
Mad River California has the Mad River flowing through it and the valley that is a popular attraction for campers and nature-lovers alike. Mad River pools into a narrow lake right outside of town that makes for excellent swimming and fishing. The lake is also used for recreation and also the hydroelectric power to the town which is a real good green economic resource for the town of Mad River California.
