There are several summer camps held for children like Camp Carson, Camp Ryan, and Camp Sequoia, which also teaches basic hiking techniques to kids.

There are various trails, each having its own, unique environment that gives hikers immense satisfaction, pleasure to hike and come back next time. The walk along the Lady Bird Johnson Trail among the Douglas fir and old redwoods provides you a clear picture of fabulous redwood forest.
Along the James Irvine Trail, hiking will be an awesome experience, alongside of the ancient redwood forest. In this trail hike starts at Prairie Creek Redwoods Visitor Center. Fern Canyon is another trailing path, which is loved by the hikers. You can walk through a thin canyon where lavish ferns and mosses dripping wet with moisture cover the entire wall like that of your dream hiking trail.

In the Prairie Creek area, Cathedral Trees Trail provides a short walk through some of the biggest trees. Walk past giant fallen trees, which have become fully covered by wide range of trees and ferns. Due to its gentle surrounding it is a great trail for children.
Lost Man Creek Trail, a moderate trail, is perfect for families, elderly people, and disabled people. Trailhead starts at Lost Man Creek Picnic Area. In Redwood Creek Trail you can do hiking and camping both.
